I’m a makeup wipe convert!

I never ever thought I would have positive feelings about face wipes. But, here I am! I even positioned some face wipes in some ivy (so artsy) because I like them so much. These two wipes couldn’t be more different, and really show the range of what’s available! My initial beef with facial wipes is that they left my face feeling greasy, and I would always need to go in with a cleanser afterwords. For me, I would use a face wipe for two primary reasons: a lazy attempt at taking everything off, or a quick step to make sure all my mascara is off and my face is reallllllly clean.

Neutrogena makeup remover cleansing towelettes – $5.99

These wipes surprised me! I picked them up because I have some pretty intense mascaras and these promised to help with waterproof mascara. I was also hopeful they’d smell like lavender since they’re branded as “calming.” So- they smell good… but not like lavender. I’m surprised they’re so heavily scented for “sensitive skin” wipes- I don’t mind the scent but I can see it aggravating some people.

When you use these wipes initially they do feel slightly oily on the skin, but they do not leave a residue!! That’s key for me! I will say that they definitely helped take off waterproof mascara, but they didn’t take everything off. That being said- these did a lot of the heavy lifting for me- and getting the rest of the makeup off isn’t too difficult! Also, the texture of these wipes is pretty “typical” for a facial wipe- soft and fabric-like.

Simple exfoliating facial wipes – $4.79

This is my first foray into Simple skincare- I’ve heard amazing things about the brand as a whole and I was super excited to try these exfoliating wipes. Who even knew that exfoliating wipes are a thing?!?!

Ok- I love these. There are a few things to note before buying these:

  • Texture: OH MAN these are intense! I would not underestimate these facial wipes ability to exfoliate your skin. I think they’d be too much for some people but I love a really intense facial scrub that feels like it’s low key sanding down your skin. So these are perfect for me.
  • Scent: The scent is light, and I love it. However, I expected these wipes to not be scented since they’re targeted at sensitive skin. So, if you’re looking for nonscented these aren’t the ones.
  • Takeaway: For me these wipes weren’t effective in much more than making my skin smell good and exfoliating dead skin. I’ve since purchased the Simple Cleansing wipes– and those perform more like the Neutrogena wipes to get rid of makeup and smell exactly like the Simple Exfoliating Facial Wipes.

All in all… I’m excited to have found a new corner of the beauty world to explore! I am aware of how dangerous this is…since the facial wipe market is over-saturated to say the least.

Final thoughts: I would repurchase the Simple exfoliating wipes because they’re so unique, and likely wouldn’t buy the Neutrogena wipes again. I love having a lazy girl  in between option… facial wipes are better than not washing my face at all, but not quite as intense and time consuming as my 6 step nighttime skincare- so perfect for me!

Have an amazing week!    ☺
